"Yesterday Nick visited the wonderful people at Churchdown Players to receive a cheque for £350 which has been so generously donated following collections at their most recent play productions.
All of us at Marshalling Men’s Minds are so grateful for the generosity of the members and supporters as without the kind donations, we would not be able to survive.
This money will help us continue to provide sessions for our existing and new members, and also support individuals with their specific needs.

Open auditions for those who would like to take part in the production of ‘Out of Focus” by Peter Gordon at Witcombe and Bentham Village Hall for week commencing 14th January 2024

The auditions will be held at Badgeworth Village Hall, where we have held the readings, on Wednesday 9th August. Please arrive by 7.15 P.M. for any discussions and to enter your name on the auditions list so that the auditions can get underway promptly at 7:30 P.M.

In particular we are looking for middle aged to late aged men, but anyone with an interest in being involved, please come along.

The chosen cast will then read through the script together the following Wednesday 16th August, 7.30 p.m. at Badgeworth Village Hall.

After this rehearsals will switch to a Thursday at Witcombe Village Hall.

The play is set in the annexe of a church hall, where a series of over-bookings have occurred. A wonderful mix of characters from the local community descend on the hall for a Brownie troupe meeting, a badminton game, table tennis, auditions for the vicar’s wife’s pantomime and an illustrated talk on steam locomotives. Confusion reigns until everyone finally unites for a common cause, the production of the pantomime. Over the following weeks of rehearsals, alliances are formed and switched as the cast battle against the odds and the opening night nears. Events finally culminate backstage after the final performance at the cast party, when everyone receives their just deserts.

The cast in order of appearance:-
Helen Beever (Brownie Leader) – middle aged, does not suffer fools or anyone else gladly, strong character. 268 lines.
Sue Dixon – sporty, young’ish, middle aged, sensible, can stand up to Helen, peace maker. 322 lines.
Evonne Duckworth (vicars wife) – very nervous, very defensive, disorganized, emotional. 323 lines.
Kath Enfield – (Bobs wife) well groomed, casually dressed, determined expression, strong personality. 319 lines.
Bob Enfield (husband of Kath) – harassed husband, sarcastic, dominated by wife. 369 lines.
Leonard Trotter – older, boring personality, not well groomed, dubious appearance, disorganized. 312 lines.
Wayne Bryant – youngish, breezy personality, macho image, inadequate, portrays false image of self. 205 lines.
David Wright – police officer, middle aged, sensible. 189 lines.
Linda Hammond – (Bob’s secretary) the other woman (according to Kath), younger, predatory to Bob and Wayne. 165 lines.
